GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES
Authors are invited to make a submission using the following email addresses: journal.dresmara@mapn.ro and journalofdefense@yahoo.com. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of the journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.
All accepted articles are indexed by the major international databases, therefore providing maximum exposure to the published articles. Publication dates are late April and late October each year.
Before submitting, please ensure that the article structure and layout are in accordance with the Editing Guidelines. The usage of the Article Template is mandatory. Save the template file to a selected folder on your computer, and start writing the text of the contribution directly into the document automatically based on the template.
An editor may reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality.
Please also note that our Journal’s policy states that one author should publish no more than one article per issue. By submitting their contribution, the author confirms that they are familiar with the Guidelines for Authors, Ethical Standards and the Review Process and accepts them without reservations.
For detailed information on the peer review process, review timeline, appeals procedure, and editorial responsibilities, please refer to the Reviewing Process page.
EDITING GUIDELINES
The range of the text (including references) is 7,000-10,000 words. Submissions exceeding the specified length may not be accepted.
Recommended structure
- Abstract – new contributions, findings yet unknown. Contain a brief description of the article (topic, solved problem, objective), main conclusions and contributions. The range of the abstract is 160-180 words. The abstract does not replace the introduction in the actual text of the article.
- Keywords – max. 5 words, separated by commas. Connect the keywords with the article’s title and the abstract to optimize your text.
- Introduction – very short, just stating the purpose of the research, why. Is supposed to outline goals, methods, and hypotheses or evaluate the sources of the work.
- Methodology – material used and methods of its examination. Always reference to the sources of the methods and material used.
- Results – what was found using the methods to examine the material, always statistically processed (tables, graphs).
- Discussion – why are the results what they are, what do they show previously unknown or how do they correct the known.
- Conclusions – indicate the main new findings and what shift they have brought in the research.
- Data Availability Statement – Authors should include a statement indicating whether the data underlying the findings are available and, if so, how they can be accessed. Examples: „Data available upon reasonable request from the corresponding author”; „All data are included in the manuscript”; „Data cannot be shared due to confidentiality/ethical restrictions”.
- Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process (check the Generative AI Statement for an example).
- References – Insert the list of used sources at the article’s end, each citation on one line. All citations must follow the Chicago author-date citation style.
AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA
All individuals designated as authors should meet the following criteria:
- Substantial contributions to conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation;
- Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
- Final approval of the version to be published;
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring questions related to accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All four criteria must be met. Contributors who do not meet all criteria should be acknowledged in the manuscript but not listed as authors. Changes to authorship (additions, deletions, or order) after submission require written approval from all authors.
AUTHORS’ RESPONSIBILITIES
By submitting a manuscript to JoDRM, authors accept the following responsibilities:
- To familiarize themselves with the Guidelines for Authors and Ethical Standards, maintain full cooperation and communication with the editorial board, and consent to the publication of their contact information (e-mail address) and a brief professional biography.
- To confirm, by submitting their contribution, that an identical or substantially similar work has not been published by the author, nor is it simultaneously offered or accepted for publication elsewhere (whether under a different title or in modified form), and that during the period between submission and final publication decision, the author will not seek to publish it in another periodical or other publicly accessible platform.
- To grant, by submitting their contribution, the editorial board exclusive permission to publish and distribute the contribution in Romania and internationally in all formats. The author must also declare that the submitted work is original and previously unpublished, that they possess full and unrestricted copyright to the work, and that they are authorized to use it. The author bears legal responsibility for the content of the work and for ensuring it does not contain information subject to confidentiality under applicable legislation.
- If the contribution was prepared with financial or other support from another individual or institution, to explicitly acknowledge this, including identification of the grant, project sponsor, etc.
- To appropriately cite all sources and literature used. Minimize the number of self-citations to the greatest extent possible. To obtain permission for publishing information or borrowed passages that require such authorization from their original author. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
- To accept editorial revisions to their contribution resulting from the peer-review process, copyediting, and other activities associated with publication of the work.
- To retain and preserve records and materials related to the creation and editing of the contribution. Based on these and upon editorial board request, to provide evidence of authorship or primary responsibility in cases of uncertainty or investigation of complaints regarding violations of Ethical Standards.
- To make research data, materials, and code underlying the findings available upon reasonable request, unless restricted by ethical, privacy, or confidentiality considerations. Data availability statements should be included in manuscripts.
- To refrain from attempting to identify reviewers and to notify the editorial board of any circumstances that could compromise the anonymity and objectivity of the peer-review process.
- To avoid unfounded evaluative statements in their paper that could be defamatory or offensive in nature or are likely to harm others and the reputation of the journal.
- To acknowledge that contributions published in the Journal of Defense Resources Management (JoDRM) cannot be republished in another journal or publicly available information source without approval from the Chairman of the Editorial Board and without appropriate citation to this journal.
- To inform the editorial board of any potential conflict of interest or circumstances that could negatively affect any stage of the publication process and the credibility of the journal.
- To notify the editorial board immediately if the published paper contains a significant error. The author is obligated to provide necessary assistance to correct the error, publish a correction or clarifying statement, etc. at the editorial board’s request.
OPEN ACCESS STATEMENT
All articles within JoDRM are available online to all users immediately upon publication. Non-commercial use and distribution in any medium is permitted, provided the author and the journal are properly credited. Open access aims to maximize the visibility of research and differs from free online access as it provides reuse rights provided full attribution is given (under the terms of the CC BY-NC-SA license).
GENERATIVE AI STATEMENT
Manuscript authors must transparently report any Artificial Intelligence Tools employed during preparation by including a disclosure statement at submission. This declaration should be positioned immediately preceding the reference list under the heading “Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process.” Such disclosure promotes transparency and trust among all stakeholders (authors, readers, reviewers, editors, and contributors), while ensuring adherence to applicable AI tool usage policies.
This disclosure will be published alongside the manuscript. Authors must document their AI usage comprehensively, specifying the tool’s name and describing how extensively it was utilized (e.g., throughout the research process).
Sample of statement “The author acknowledges utilizing the following generative AI tools during manuscript preparation: OpenAI ChatGPT. This tool served exclusively for language refinement and structural recommendations, remaining entirely under the authors’ supervision and responsibility. All AI-generated content underwent rigorous author review and revision, with the authors assuming complete responsibility for the final manuscript’s accuracy and integrity.”
AI tools must never be credited as authors or co-authors, nor cited as authorship sources. Authorship entails responsibilities and obligations that only humans can fulfill. Individual authors remain accountable for investigating and resolving any concerns regarding their work’s accuracy or integrity. Authorship requires capability to approve the final manuscript version and consent to its submission. Authors must also verify the work’s originality, confirm it has not been previously published, ensure all listed authors meet authorship criteria, and guarantee no infringement of third-party rights.
TRANSFER OF COPYRIGHT
The transfer of copyright from author to publisher enable JoDRM to assure maximum dissemination of the author’s work and it is therefore the default option for each manuscript submission.
When the article is accepted for publication, the author(s) agrees to transfer to JoDRM all rights, including those pertaining to electronic forms and transmissions, under existing copyright laws, except for the following, which the author(s) specifically retain(s):
1. The right to make further copies of all or part of the published article for use in classroom teaching;
2. The right to reuse all or part of this material in a compilation or textbook of which he(she) is the author;
3. The right to make copies of the published work for internal distribution within the institution that employs the author.
CHARGES
There is no article-processing charge (APC) for publishing in the journal.
The authors take full responsibility for the contents and scientific correctness of the paper.
